“WHEN AND IF”
RETURNING TO SALEM
General George Patton’s 1939 Alden schooner When And If has returned to Salem for the 2019 season. The sleek black schooner, operated by Sunset Sail Salem, will once again be docked at the ferry landing on Blaney Street. The When and If will resume offering private charters and shared per person sailing experiences to the public on July 10th.
The ships return to Salem was delayed this year due to her role in the filming in Miami of an upcoming episode of a popular television series. Captain Dylan Salzmann said, “our excitement for playing an important part in the production of the show was tempered by our disappointment in delaying our return to Salem.”
The when and If spent the winter and spring in Key West where her season was punctuated by sweeping victories in the Wreckers Race series. While on the North Shore this summer the When and If will once again be competing in the Corinthian Classic where she will be defending her first overall finish of last year as well as the Gloucester Schooner race where she will be looking to avenge her second place finish to her eighty year rival, the Schooner Brilliant.
