LETTER TO THE EDITOR – COMMON CORE

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

The following information regarding Common Core teaching standards is extremely important. Please read on.

Common Core are copyrighted standards owned by the National Governor’s Association. They cannot be changed like our Massachusetts standards. Our Mass. state guidelines set the basic standards but schools can achieve far above them. Common Core does not allow that latitude. CC standards are far below Mass. standards, which is how they mean to have all students on the same level – leaving the higher achievers out in left field. There is no individualism with Common Core.

For years Mass. education system has led the nation as having the best achievement scores. CC has eroded the gains made by our own Mass. standards. We are slipping because of Common Core.

Common Core was a political decision made by Gov. Patrick and Commissioner Chester – neither were educators. We need to have public input in the education of our children. Restoring community and parental involvement can only be done by getting rid of Common Core.

Our children are NOT standard and they are NOT common!

Please sign the petition to put the Common Core question on the 2016 ballot.

  1. We all have heard of the program,Operation Able,a program that helps people aged 45 plus find employment.I have tried to contact the Executive person there, only to talk to a box that takes messages.I left exactly 3 to 4 messages on this box, with no reply, from this person.I have been calling this place since May 31,2017.I was contacted by a very rude person, and i was told that if i called the Boston number anymore, that I would be kept off this program. I wanted information about the program.I did not think i was asking for a military secret, but i could probably get that with no problem. It is so nice to see that there is discrimination still alive, this program is supposed to help people not deny them the right to seek help.Thank you,now i know where my tax money goes. I hope some one in Boston Broadside can help me.
