Well-known activist to Massachusetts Republicans, who has managed numerous campaigns and field operations, to now help organize signature gathering effort

BOSTON, MA – The Geoff Diehl for Governor campaign announces that long-time Republican activist Desiree Awiszio, who has been serving as the campaign’s Treasurer since its launch last July, will also be advising the campaign on its signature gathering efforts this spring.

 

Awiszio, a consulting engineer by trade, has extensive experience working with countless Republican candidates, managing their campaigns, and supporting their grassroots campaign strategies. Most recently, she served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Field Operation for Geoff Diehl’s 2018 campaign for United States Senate.

 

Volunteer Now to Collect Signatures for Geoff

 

She also was one of the original sponsors of a 2013 ballot initiative to repeal automatic gas tax increases. Awiszio served as the Statewide Campaign manager in 2014 and helped build a network of volunteers that collected over 146,000 signatures in support of the ballot question, which was passed by voters in 2014. In recognition of her efforts, she was unanimously elected Honorary State Committee Member in 2016 by the membership of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee. She also served as Treasurer for the Make Massachusetts Great Again SuperPAC in 2016.

 

“I am extremely pleased Desiree is serving as part of our campaign,” Diehl said. “I’ve known Desiree for a long time, and I admire her tireless dedication to Republican causes. She is an important part of our team, and will provide us with invaluable assistance organizing our signature collection effort.”

 

Candidates for Governor are required to collect 10,000 certified signatures from voters in order to qualify for the ballot. According to Diehl, his campaign is already busy working with a large network of volunteers statewide to collect signatures. “We’re going to be very busy connecting with voters all across our state over the next few weeks, and we look forward to the opportunity to visit people in their home town to talk about our campaign,” Diehl said.

  1. I’ll vote for Diehl in November. However, Diehl needs some early tv and radio ads on so that voters can know what he stands for. He needs to highlight Healey’s abysmal consumer record as State AG. Diehl needs to appeal to the majority of Bay Staters who don’t vote anymore. I saw in today’s Boston Herald as to how Andrea Campbell is leading in campaign contributions for the state attorney generals contest. Campbell couldn’t even muster 15% of the vote in the low voter turnout Boston Mayor’s contest last year. Now she is favored to be state attorney general? Republicans need to reach out to the disenchanted moderate independents and Democrats. Otherwise our state is going to be totally politically dominated by a tiny minority of leftists who benefit from the over 60% or registered voters who don’t vote.
