To the Editor:
This November 3rd will be a pivotal election for Massachusetts. Our state has always done well with a balance of powers. When the overwhelmingly Democrat legislature and judiciary is balanced by a Republican governor, our state thrives; but when it’s a one-party state with no effective or credible opposition, our state goes down the path of extremism. And that is the right word to describe Maura Healey’s disasters – from the overreaching abortion bill and the soft-on-crime early release of violent convicts, to the impossible dream of net-zero mandates and the refusal to submit to the clear will of the People for an audit – Governor Healey has made our streets unsafe, piled up crippling debt, and chased businesses and young people out of the state in record numbers.
All this needs to be fixed and fast. For that we have the perfect candidate in Mike Minogue, a turn-around specialist and proven leader. Mike not only has an excellent plan for success, he is the right man for the job – focused, even-tempered, and enormously competent, he is one of the few people who can credibly claim to get the job done.
Others who fit this bill on our ballot are John Deaton and Micah Jones. Deaton not only has shown remarkable political skill; he also has a compelling life story that showcases his resilience and humanity. Jones is an Army veteran who has served our country with distinction. His work and family life are exemplary; and his platform is based on common sense and a keen appreciation of what our country needs to stay safe and strong.
Coming closer to home, Christine Delisio is by far the best choice if you want a representative on Beacon Hill who will amplify your voice for the audit we, the supermajority, voted for.
I would also urge voters to vote for Mike Walsh, a brilliant young man with a passion to uphold the laws and serve this state, to replace Andrea Campbell, who has wiggled out of the audit and been a disgrace in every way to the Commonwealth. Speaking of disgrace, the office of the Treasury would be immeasurably improved were Elizabeth Dionne to run it. Not only would she support the audit, she would not hide hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed property. The same can be said of the office of the Secretary of State, where Bill Galvin has been warming the chair since the Pilgrims landed at Pilgrim Rock. Anne Brensley is just the woman for the job – she has demonstrated her integrity by reporting the phony signatures on her ballot petition. Question: who does things like that? Answer: only people who have real integrity. She also has spunk and drive, keen intelligence, and a very compelling personal story.
Finally, I would respectfully ask the voters of District 5 of the Governor’s Council, to give me a chance to amplify YOUR voice on Beacon Hill. Many of us have been ignored, and our concerns dismissed, in favor of dangerous, radical ideas. If I am elected, I will put public safety over politics, push for transparency on the Council, and I will not approve a single Treasury Warrant without an audit – even if Mike Minogue wins the Corner Office. You have my promise.
William Falcetano, Gloucester
Republican candidate for Governor’s Council, District 5
