Harpoon Hunter to Run Against Congressman Bill Keating
Tyler Macallister has announced he is a candidate for the United States House of Representatives seat representing the Massachusetts’ 9th Congressional District. He will run against Congressman Bill Keating who was first elected to the United States House of Representatives 15 years ago on November 2, 2010.
Macallister, a Mattapoisett resident, recently returned from Washington, D.C. where he spent several days meeting with members of the White House staff to begin his campaign. With 14 years of experience as a Mattapoisett select board member and with his education in business and marine biology, Macallister feels he can well serve the people of this district which includes the state’s South Shore, South Coast, and Cape Cod and the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
With his finance background holding a Master’s Degree in Business and a degree in Marine Biology, Macallister strongly feels he can provide representation to the fishermen and the fisheries; representation that is currently missing in this district. Since he grew up on Cape Cod hunting and fishing, Macallister believes someone who understands the area should represent the people of the area. Macallister said, “I have been a select board member for 14 years. I have never met Bill Keating. I have never cross paths with him.”
Macallister was recently on the Discovery Channel’s television show, Harpoon Hunters. The show captured Macallister harpooning bluefin tuna in Cape Cod waters. Harpooning is regulated federally by National Marine Fisheries andNational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. These are agencies Macallister is very familiar with and if electedwill work closely with since he constantly performs research work and is a member of the fishing community.
When Macallister learned he was going to be on the show, he launched Make Bluefin Tuna Great Again. “This is an effort to get people to eat bluefin tuna again since here is high quality tuna from New York to down-east Maine coming into different harbors. It is not being utilized locally. There are non-governmental organizations pushing the narrative that there is a problem with bluefin tuna that people should not eat them. That is 100% wrong and false. We should be celebrating that the fishermen and the fishery managers collaborated and worked together to recover a fishery that was arguable in trouble in the last 40-50 years. The methods that significantly impacted tuna stocks are no longer employed by any countries. Anyone who has qualms about easing bluefin should not,” Macallister said. Macallister is working on getting fish markets to carry bluefin tuna again. The United States imports 80%-90% of all our seafood. The Department of Commerce has recognized that, and Macallister is working to get people to eat domestic seafood.
He believes Massachusetts government should focus on financial conservatism by looking at budgets and how money is spent in the Commonwealth.
Macallister is looking forward to speaking with people about his vision for the State of Massachusetts. He can be contacted by email at Fvcynthia@gmail.com or call him at 508-221-8991.

Not So Fast, Harpoon Hunter — The GOP Nomination Isn’t for Sale
The Boston Broadside just published a puff piece anointing Tyler “Harpoon Hunter” Macallister as the Republican challenger to Bill Keating in 2026—as if there won’t even be a primary.
No vetting. No due diligence. Not a single hard question about his record, his business dealings, or why he thinks he’s entitled to a seat at the table without earning it.
They didn’t even mention that Mr. Macallister hasn’t gathered a single signature. He’s not on the ballot. He hasn’t earned a vote. He just got back from D.C. and is already acting like he’s got this thing locked up.
And some local Republican Town Committees seem more than happy to play along. They’re trying to hand-pick the nominee behind closed doors, just like the DNC tried to do with Kamala Harris in 2024. We all saw how that turned out.
Let me be blunt: That’s not how we do things. Not in the Republican Party. Not in Massachusetts. And not on my watch.
In 2024, I ran the most competitive race against Bill Keating that any Republican ever has.
More votes than any GOP challenger.
More municipalities won than anyone before me.
A 13-point margin in a state where 20-to-30-point Democrat wins are the norm.
That wasn’t a fluke. That was the result of hard work, grassroots campaigning, and talking directly with voters about the specifics of issues that matter to them—something no TV camera or fishing trip can substitute for.
Tyler Macallister is free to run, and I welcome a primary. But let’s be clear: this nomination belongs to the voters, not to political insiders, not to the backroom crowd, and not to some reality-show candidate who hasn’t faced real political scrutiny outside the Town of Mattapoisett.
So to the Broadside, to the RTCs, and anyone else rushing to coronate the next GOP nominee: pump the brakes. Respect the process. And most importantly, respect the voters.
We’ll see each other on the campaign trail—and we’ll let the people decide who’s earned their trust and their vote.
God bless our Commonwealth, our Republic, and the voters who refuse to be told who their candidate is.
Sincerely,
Dan “Nurse Dan” Sullivan

Dan,
First, apologies for the delay in your post today. You’re set for auto postings now.
(As this isn’t facebook, we screen out psychos and such.)
Also, running a candidate piece provides visibility to the candidate field.
As you know, it’s long time from now to then (filed nomination papers).
Hope to see a great field.
Lonnie Brennan, for, The Boston Broadside.
