The date of October 7, 2023 is a day that will live in infamy, to borrow a phrase, but October 8, the following day, may be just as infamous and dangerous.
Seven years ago, Robert Kraft started the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS). In 2019, hatred for Jews was not a front-and-center issue. No one was running for national office as an outspoken antisemite or its evil twin, anti-Zionist. Kraft back then saw Jew hatred as threat, not the lead story on newspapers and network TV. Even today, FCAS has a conservative approach to antisemitism. Its blue square lapel button has no Jewish star or a menorah to identify with Jews or the Jewish state.
Instead, FCAS suggests that the battle against Jew hatred is against all baseless hatred. It links antagonism toward Jews as a malaise or disease that if left unchecked, infects other minorities, and from there, the overall health of the country. The slogans, “Stand Up To Hate. Because hate knows no boundaries. If we don’t stand up, it spreads,” universalize Jew hatred as a danger to us all. The saying, “First, they came for the Jews…,” suggests that if antisemitism is not opposed, every other group is vulnerable. The history of the last century agrees. In 2019, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recorded 1813 incidents of hatred toward Jews. In 2025, the number doubled to 3700. This year, 2026, will be even higher.
Although foreign workers and Muslims were killed in the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, the chief intent was to kill Jews. The rapes, mutilations, and hostage taking were also to demoralize Israeli Jews until they had no will to resist, left with choices of surrender or immigrate.
Instead, Israel now controls 70% of Gaza, has killed many Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, and sent the IDF deep into Lebanon. For 12 days, Israel attacked Iranian military and industrial targets a thousand kilometers away, killing many of its leaders and scientists, with no lost aircraft. One video from Iran shows an Israeli jet being refueled by a tanker, on a blue-sky day, with no fear of being shot down. Although with high costs, the military struggle after October 7 is beyond expectations, but the battle that began on October 8, less so.
On that day, 2500 pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protests broke out across the world. Before Israel started its counter-offensive and was still battling terrorists inside the country, over two thousand demonstrations happened, with signs, flags, banners, and on some campuses, like at Harvard, tents. How did all these arrive on time? Rather than met with sympathy, Jews were attacked as colonialists, who deserved October 7. Have these protests been planned for years, knowing or assuming that the Hamas massacre would occur? According to author Warren Kinsella, yes. It is the final result of “the hidden hand” of antisemitic propaganda, decades of it, corrupting our schools and politics.
Follow the money. No cliché has been truer. Since 1928, the Muslim Brotherhood has had as its foremost goal the ascendancy of Islam and Sharia law in the world. Death in service to this goal is holy, glorifying the attacks on 9/11 and October 7. Many Muslims do not agree with this creed, but those who do have been blessed with what the industrialized world needs – oil and natural gas. Energy-rich Qatar has been funding Brotherhood plans and programs for the last 20 years.
The Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP), which fights antisemitism “on the battlefield of ideas,” verified that Qatar has contributed $100 billion to American universities and colleges, among them the elite Cornell, Carnegie-Mellon, Georgetown, and Harvard. With the money comes influence, to change what and how these schools teach the history of the Israel-Arab conflict.
Since October 8, we see the impact of this influence and propaganda on our schools, our politics, and daily life. An esteemed political party is now running antisemitic candidates. Protesters justify the deaths of 1200 Israelis. Women’s rights groups are silent about Jewish women raped. American newspapers barely mention that the Bibas toddlers, hostages strangled to death. Two Israeli consulate employees were murdered to free a fictional Palestine. Just as significant, American Jewish institutions now spend over $700 million a year for security.
Passivity will not work. Joining Israel’s critics will not work. Jews and allies must join FCAS, the ADL, and ISGAP in the fight. Our cause is biblically inspired.
