Republican U.S. Senate Candidate John Deaton Blasts 53-Year Incumbent Democrat Ed Markey for Refusing Debates

Following is a statement from John Deaton in response to the attacks by Senator Ed Markey and his refusal to debate.

“What kind of political coward doesn’t vote for his own Green New Deal bill and then runs from debates? I’ve challenged Ed Markey to 5 single-issue debates on energy, housing, healthcare, foreign policy, and women’s reproductive rights. He’s had 53 years in office and still won’t show up. That’s not leadership; that’s fear.”

“Also, Ed Markey called me a millionaire like it’s an insult. I earned every penny fighting for working people against multibillion-dollar corporations and insurance companies. Meanwhile, Markey has lived off the taxpayer for 53 years. His only private sector job was driving an ice cream truck over 60 years ago. I’ll take my record over his any day.”
