Beaty Condemns Commissioners Planned Use of ARPA Funds to Promote Racism (CRT)

Beaty Condemns Barnstable County Commissioners for Allegedly Considering Use of Millions in Federal ARPA Funds to Promote Critical Race Theory in Cape Cod Area Schools

April 28, 2022 – Barnstable, Cape Cod, MA: 2022 Republican Barnstable County Commissioner Candidate Ron Beaty issued the following statement today: “It has been brought to my attention that members of the Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners are possibly considering employment of a portion of the $41 Million in federal ARPA funds received by the County to try and push critical race theory in Cape Cod area schools, including promoting ‘equity’ and ‘implicit bias’ training.”

Former Barnstable County Commissioner Beaty continued, “The persons in question are allegedly planning to use several million dollars of the funds to implement programs such as “anti-racism” training which is essentially analogous to implementing CRT in Cape Cod area schools.”

Beaty elaborated, “It is one thing to seek and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, access, opportunity, innovation, trust, respect, caring, and relationship-building; however, it quite another to try and facilitate the highly controversial teaching of Critical Race Theory via federal funds which quite frankly were not meant for that purpose even if a loophole to implement such a plan may exist.”

Ron Beaty propounded, “Critical Race Theory in truth is nothing more than a racist political agenda which seeks to undermine our American institutions, traditions, and way of life. It simply must stop and not be allowed to move forward any further than it already has.”

Beaty wrapped up, “Members of the Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners, including Chairperson Sheila Lyons, Vice-Chair Ronald Bergstrom, and Commissioner Mark Forest, who may be seeking an avenue to utilize any portion of the federal ARPA funds for the purpose of pushing critical race theory in Cape Cod area schools must be forthrightly persuaded to immediately cease and desist from progressing any further with such a detrimental proposal and endeavor.”
