Bill Cotter To Receive Thomas More Award From The Pro-Life Legal Defense Fund
A Catholic hero of the American Right to Life movement, Bill Cotter, President of Operation Rescue: Boston, will receive the prestigious Thomas More Award from the Pro-Life Legal Defense Fund on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
The award will be conferred during the PLLDF Annual Century Brunch, which will be held at the Boston Marriott Newton Hotel, which is located at 2345 Commonwealth Avenue in Newton.
The event will begin with coffee at 12 noon on Saturday the 10th, followed by brunch at 12:30 pm.
As always, attendees will look forward to Attorney Tom Harvey serving as Master of Ceremonies for the event.
Attorney Robert W. Joyce, last year’s honoree, will present the award to Bill Cotter.
Bill Cotter’s sacrificial commitment to the defense of the innocent has spanned more than four decades.
He first became involved in the right to life movement in 1983. Bill founded the Pro-Life Action Network in 1984.
From 1985 to 1986, Bill Cotter served on the Board of Directors of Massachusetts Citizens For Life.
In 1987, he founded and became the first President of Operation Rescue: Boston, a position and a vocation which he has held and pursued for the last thirty-eight years.
In 1989, Bill joined Father Thomas Carleton in establishing the Saint Stanislaus Committee, named after the Polish martyr slain for denouncing the immorality of his king.
The Saint Stanislaus Committee was dedicated to the principle that the Catholic Church ought to excommunicate public officials complicit in the mass murder of the unborn.
In 1995, Bill Cotter became one of the founding Directors of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, and has continued to serve on its board for last three decades.
For the past five years, Bill has been a member of the Respect Life Ministry of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Grafton.
In the 1990’s, Bill Cotter was one of the two longest serving prisoners of conscience incarcerated in Massachusetts.
He was imprisoned for 19 months, from 1991 to 1993, for acts of civil disobedience aimed at the rescue of vulnerable children from cruel dismemberment at the hands of the death merchants of the abortion industry.
By participating in the Pro-Life Legal Defense Fund Annual Century Brunch on May 10th, you will both honor the Bay state’s greatest Pro-Life champion and support a Pro-Life organization known for its many years of effective work on behalf of pre-born children and those who seek to save them.
Tickets are $60. You may pay online here, or mail your donation to the Pro-Life Legal Defense Fund, 2 Neptune Road #167, Boston, MA 02128-1733.
