“Attorney General Finds the Harwich Finance Committee  Violated the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law”

In a recently issued official determination , the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Division of Open Government has ruled that the Town of Harwich Finance Committee violated the Open Meeting Law.

The review and investigation resulted from a formal complaint filed last March by long-time Open Meeting Law Advocate, and current Republican Candidate for County Commissioner, Ron Beaty.

Beaty stated, “I am happy to see that my ongoing pursuit of open, transparent and accountable government is yielding positive results.”

Beaty further stated, “The public’s right to know regarding all levels governmental operations is of paramount importance, including the Harwich Finance Committee. Moreover, I hope to serve as a role model to others to bring this same kind of dogged pursuit of governmental transparency and accountability to federal, state, and local government as well.”
