Possessing a wide range of experience in the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Jeff started as a corrections officer and has served multiple roles since that time.  As President of the Essex County Correctional Officers Association for 3 years, Jeff gained valuable insight working with Sheriff Cousins and senior department management while negotiating contracts and labor disputes.

When asked why he is running, Jeff replied, “I am running for the right reasons.  I want to see a department that can better address the opioid epidemic that is affecting our communities.  An improved corrections system will work to keep criminals from returning to us, while saving taxpayer money, and moving our society in a more positive direction.”

Gallo will build off the successes enjoyed by the department under the current leadership of the Cousins administration.  He plans to reduce recidivism rates, while collaborating with the governor and other agencies combating the war on opioid dependence.  Working with lawmakers and judges to expand the bracelet program for first-time nonviolent offenders, Jeff will re-focus department resources on repeat and violent offenders.  “This department means the world to me.  I am not a politician.  I am just a hardworking lieutenant, who when elected, will do everything I can to make sure the Essex County Sheriff’s Department is the envy of Commonwealth.  I believe I have the experience the department needs.”

On top of his duties, as a department lieutenant, Jeff has organized a number of charity golf tournaments, and is an active member in his community.

Jeff Gallo currently resides in Haverhill and has 3 children: Lexi, Kayla and Max.  Raised in Salem, Jeff attended Salem High School, where he was a star athlete playing football, baseball and running track. He also played baseball for the Salem State Vikings.
