Such a disturbing story! Even Orwell would be shocked. Most people in Massachusetts don’t realize that under Mass State Law hospitals have protections from law suits. Most states have reasonable accountability for hospitals. Not in “liberal” Massachusetts though. Even Alabama and Mississippi have stronger patient rights laws than does this state. Plenty of world class and highly rated hospitals in Texas, Ohio, Minnesota etc. where patients are better protected by state laws. I think that many of our major Boston hospitals level of care is much overrated. They are sitting on laurels that were earned many years ago. I had a relative nearly 20 years ago who suffered horrible malpractice at a major Boston hospital. Out of state doctors gave statements verifying this. Yet under Mass State law the hospital was protected from a major law suit.
